Merino wool
Merino wool has unique properties that insulate you from extreme cold weather and excessive heat. Merino wool reacts to the micro climate above your skin. In hot weather or during rigorous activities the merino will absorb moisture and through evaporation transport it away from your skin, lowering the temperature. When you are cold merino has the ability to absorb moisture from the air which produces a rise in temperature, a process known as heat of sorption. Merino wool has been used by Antarctic explorers to stay warm and Bedouin desert tribesmen to stay cool. No other material offers this versatility at the extreme temperature ranges!
100% pure Mongolia goat cashmere.
Cashmere is extremely soft, luxurious and very warm wool. It is one of the best wool fibre available in the world Its silken feel, feather-light weight, and appreciable status make it highly desirable. Owning a garment made of cashmere is a fashion treat to be truly treasured. Cashmere is collected from cashmere goats. Cashmere goats are found in very high altitude areas. A fine undercoat is grown by these animals to protect them from very low temperatures, but once winter is over, goats begin to lose the protective layer of cashmere in spring, which is combed off them and collected. This is then processed to produce Cashmereyarn. It takes one little goat four years to produce enough wool to make about 3 Vivo hats.
Angora
Angora wool or Angora fiber refers to the downy coat produced by the Angora rabbit. While their names are similar, Angora fiber is distinct from mohair, which comes from the Angora goat. Angora is known for its softness, lowmicron count (i.e. thin fibers), and what knitters refer to as a halo (fluffiness). It is also known for its silky texture. Angora rabbits produce coats in a variety of colors, from white to black. Good quality angora fiber is around 12-16 microns in diameter, It felts very easily, even on the animal itself if the animal is not groomed frequently. The fiber is normally blended with wool to give the yarn elasticity, as angora fiber is not naturally elastic.the finished object. The fibers are hollow which gives them their characteristic floating feel.
Bamboo
Bamboo is the world’s fastest growing plant. Some bamboo species grow one metre per day and the mature 20 metre tree can be harvested every three to four years! In fact, it is nature’s most sustainable resource, grown without pesticides or chemicals and is 100% biodegradable after disposing of the hats or clothing. Bamboo takes in more carbon dioxide than trees and breathes out more oxygen than trees as well. As well as the 1000s of uses of bamboo around the home and in wood products, it is also being spun into luxurious fabrics and is leading the charge for eco fashion with bamboo headwear. It is regarded as a highly eco fabric that is very healthy to the wearer.
Properties of Bamboo – Stretchy, Breathable, hypoallergenic, soft as cashmere, absorbent and anti bacterial properties means your Vivo hat is good for you!
Organic Cotton
First, a word about traditional cotton. Cotton is the second most pesticide-laden crop in the world. Five of the top nine pesticides are that used on cotton in the U.S. (cyanide, dicofol, naled, propargite and trifluralin) are known cancer-causing chemicals. It takes approximately 1/3 of a pound of chemicals to grow enough cotton to make just one t-shirt. Organic cotton, on the other hand, is grown in certified pesticide-free and herbicide-free soil, using organic farming methods, which produce healthier fabrics, preserve the quality of our water and prevent toxins from entering the human food chain in the form of cottonseed and other by products.
Properties of Cotton/Organic Cotton – soft, absorbent,breathable.
